A couple weeks ago we were given the task to draw a diagram of how green house gases work. This is my diagram. Enjoy!
#1 Ideas: The main idea in this story is that friendship is very important. It also is trying to tell us that princesses and witches can be friends and this means that everyone no matter how different can be friends.
#2 Organization: This piece was organized well and everything made sense. Every paragraph came in at the right time and it was easy to understand.
#3 Voice: The authors voice is very imaginative and that’s why she wrote such a creative book.
#4 Sentence fluency: The sentences in this book were perfect.
I believe the theme that runs through these word is : Prefixes. All these words had 1 of the the following Prefix:
Even though you will probably never see this note, it is for you. I just wanted to say good bye and good luck. Good bye because I never got to say it properly and good luck with the rest of your first year of high school. I’m not sure if I will see you again but I will try to drop in at holiday program every so often. (Gerry gave me permission) I want you to know I find you a true friend. Your very funny and fun to be around, so your friends at school are very lucky. If you do happen to see this note feel free to leave a comment so we can keep in contact.
Wishing you all the best,
“I’m here.” I said to myself. “I’m actually here.” My short blonde hair flapped in the wind. I’m standing at the Muppets studio front gate. I stepped inside. I walked to the front door, leaves crunching underneath my feet. The studio looked deserted. Where was everybody? I made it to the front door and rang the door bell. Nobody answered. I gave the door a little push and with a creak it swung open. I stepped inside.
“Hello?” I asked. “Anybody there?
“Ahhhhhh, your here, great to see you.” a voice said. Kermit the frog stepped around the corner.
“Thank god its just you.” I said able to breathe again.
“Yes its just me. Would you like to speak to Beaker?” Kermit asked me.
“That would be great, thanks.” I replied.
“Beaker! She would like to see you!” Kermit called.
“Meep Meep!” came a voice.
“He is coming.” Kermit said. “Make yourself at home.”
I walked around the studio, wondering about the future that lay before me. Will Beaker and I be successful? Will we have any explosions? I mean, science is pretty dangerous. This is a dream come true! I mean being on the Muppet show!
That is the end of part 1!
3 recalls: There are 2 types of diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2)
There is no cure for ether of the types.
Diabetes is caused because your pancreas does not create insulin.
2 understandings: Type 1 is something your born with.
Type 2 is developed by a unbalanced diet and not enough exercise.
1 question: If you are born with diabetes does it affect you the moment you are born?
3 Facts : Rips are deadly. Rips kill about 90 people a year. Rips are more deadly than sharks.
2 Understandings: I understand that being dragged out to sea in a rip is not what kills you. I understand Rips usually take place where there are no waves.
1 wondering: I wonder how rips form?
Predict: I predict this will be about problem solving + all 4 operations.
Read: Fill in the missing numbers to produce correct equations in every row and column.
Clarify: Nothing to clarify.
Big question: Make sure the answer in every row and column is correct,
Mathematicians tool box: Guess check and improve.
Solve: I started with 8 minus 1 because it was the only question completely written. the answer is 7 so I put 7 in the answer box. Then it says 3 + ? = 7 I know that 3+4 = 7 so I put 4 in the blank box. Then it said ?-1 =1 in knew that 2-1=1 so I put 2 in the blank box. Now it says ?-2=3. I knew 5-2=3 so I put 5 in the blank box. Last it said 5+?=8. I know that 5+3 = 8 so I put 3 in the blank box.
Summery: This question can be time consuming but after a while it gets easier.
predict- I think it will be about patterns
Read- Mike and Anna have 20 stamps altogether. Mike has 4 more stamps that Anna. How many stamps does Anna have?
clarify- nothing to clarify
math tool- test all possibilities
big question- how many stamps does Anna have
solve- give them 5 each. then give them 3. then give Mike the extra 4.
summery- its really fun to figure out a sum like this one.
